The aim of the group is to break social isolation of the Polish people over 50 years old who are particularly prone to loneliness and consequently poor mental health. The group was set up by two Community Champions in response to the signals from the community about Polish people in certain age, with a low command of English who did not have many opportunities to socialise. Many of them left all their friends behind and arrived to Scotland to look after their grandchildren. The group creates opportunity for social bonding and spending time in an active way.

The group meets bi-monthly on Saturdays and offers:

  • Walks, trips, museum visits
  • Language classes
  • Meetings with guests (NHS, Polish Consulate, artists, etc.)
  • Book club
  • Physical activities (zumba etc.)
