Feniks is a community health initiative set up and run by Polish people to support Central and Eastern European immigrants to cope with the challenges of settling into a new country.

Thanks to funding from Edinburgh Integrated Joint Board we are able to offer positions within the three categories:

Board Members

An excellent opportunity has become available to become involved in the Board of Directors of Feniks as a Trustee, Board Secretary or Treasurer. Feniks is a charity operating in Edinburgh promoting the rights and wellbeing of migrant communities from Central and Eastern European (CEE) Countries. Since 2007 the organisation has provided holistic confidential support services in English and CEE languages, including counselling, psychotherapy, group work, employment advice and outreach support.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a crucial role in the organisation’s strategic development and to assist in its future success supporting vulnerable individuals and families in the City of Edinburgh. At the same time, successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop skills in management and governance in a supportive environment. Volunteer with us!

Feniks for many years functioned only thanks to the dedication of its volunteers. These days it also relies on their work and faith in Feniks’s mission. As a charitable organisation, we are run by the Board of Directors, who volunteer their time and expertise to serve the community. All our projects and services are run by volunteers, this includes counselling, group work, Conversation Cafés, Active 50+ and administration. Please call or email us if you would like to join our diverse team!

We also welcome applications from international students interested in doing Erasmus internships with us.

Toddler Group – Grupa Malucha

Volunteer Facilitator

Are you a young mum with organisational skills? Or do you simply enjoy working with children?

We are currently looking for – preferably – Polish speaking volunteers to take over and develop our support group (Toddler Group – Grupa Malucha) for new parents, grandparents and carers of Polish children 0-2 years old. It’s a great opportunity to meet other mums from your local community, improve your organisational and employability skills.


– Plan, organize and run 1,5hrs group sessions

– Actively look for new opportunities to make the meetings more varied and enjoyable

– Keep records of attendance

– Post updates about the group activities on Facebook


– Experience in group work (can be in an informal setting),

– Organizational skills

– Open, cheerful, engaging, inclusive

– A knowledge of child development and previous experience of working with children would be an asset

– Fluent Polish and communicative English

Time Commitment:

2 hours weekly or fortnightly (to be discussed with the volunteer). Once we set up your placement you will be expected to volunteer on a regular basis, preferably for at least six months, as consistency is very important to the success of our programmes.

You will be asked to get an Enhanced PVG Check (provided by Feniks) before you can begin a volunteer position.


One-to-one informal training will be provided.
